The Cement used in the manufacturing of Paving Blocks complies with the requirements of IS: 8112 for high Strength.
Ordinary Portland Cement and IS: 1489 Portland Pozzolana Cement.
The water used for mixing and curing is clean and free from deleterious substances
CEMENT CONTENTSThe cement contents of the compact concrete shall be not less than 325 kg/cum.
After manufacturing, the blocks will be stored so as to prevent under less of moisture.
DIMENSIONS
The Blocks can be of different sizes and dimensions like Rectangular, Square, Triangular, Hexagon, Zigzag etc. The blocks shall be chamfered at top edges. The width and height of the chamfered edges measured in horizontal and vertical projection will be at least 4mm and will not exceed 6mm. The Blocks shall be of uniform shape and have no structural faults such as gravel accumulations, hollows or cracks. The tiles will be fairly straight flat and rectangular and will have virtually no burrs or projections.
Length: The length of all Blocks will be within +/- 2mm of the nominal specified length.
Width: The width of all Blocks will be within +/- 2mm of the nominal specified width.
Thickness: The thickness of all Blocks will be with in +/- 3mm of the nominal specified thickness.
The Paving Blocks mainly falls under following categories:
1. Light Duty = Thickness 40mm
2. Medium Duty = Thickness 60mm
3. Heavy Duty = Thickness 75 / 80mm
4. Extra Heavy Duty = Thickness 100mm
The Paving Blocks of Medium Duty and Heavy Duty can be laid on Sand Base over stone soling over compacted earth to 90% of Proctor Density with adequate slope for drainage. Grouting can be done with Sand as well as dry or wet grouting material.
Main elements for laying paving blocks are as under:
The Natural earth found on site, compacted to 90% of Proctor Density with adequate slope for drainage.
A layer of Gravels / stone soling / W.B.M. duly compacted.
1. A layer of graded sand / limestone or cement concrete screeding 75 to 100mm. duly compacted with earth compactor.
2. Laying out the tiles in desired pattern.
3. Grouting of tiles by spreading screened sand on pavers or by grouting material.
4. Vibrating the tiles.
5. Sweeping away the extra sand.
